HISTORIC RESTORATION

This historic home, designed by S.S. Beman, Jr.—son of the architect behind Pullman, Illinois—sits on a beautifully landscaped estate. A meticulous renovation restored the original character of the residence while integrating modern updates. A new pool and cabana were added, transforming the property into a private English-Tudor style retreat. Exterior materials were carefully restored.

Designed as an extension of the existing masonry site walls, the cabana creates an inviting courtyard for informal gatherings. Its form, proportion, and detailing honor the spirit of the historic residence, incorporating steel sash windows and doors, rustic brick with slate accents, heavy timber beams, wattle and daub stucco, and a clay tile roof.

Inside, formal spaces such as the entry, living room, and dining room were restored to their original grandeur. Private areas underwent more significant changes to meet contemporary needs. Thoughtful design ensures that new elements blend seamlessly with the home’s historic fabric.
